It is a service:
• That adapts to any situation of greater or lesser mobility of the user;
• That promotes this kind of mobility;
• That encourages the social integration of the elderly and its relationship with the social environment.
Typology of Service
• 24-hour Emergencies – Urgent dispatch of medical staff, ambulance, police, firefighters, contacts with relatives, friends or other persons to aid;
• Customer service 24 hours – telephonic support service that can help fighting loneliness;
• Alert and information service 24 hours – Alerts service (medication taking, reminders of appointments or exams, wake up alarms, etc.) and Information about clinics, hospitals and pharmacies of service;
• Medical assistance over the telephone;
Criteria for obtaining the equipment
• Be over 65 years old;
• Live alone;
• Not being monitored by institutions (day care centers, house support service, etc.). In certain cases, this criterion may not apply;
• Monthly income of the elderly lower than or equal to the national minimum wage (557€).
• In the case of having children, for the free allocation of teleassistance equipment, four different levels are contemplated: if the household income of the children per capita fall within the first, second and third levels, they will be entitled to teleassistance equipment. If the children fall into the last level, the elderly is automatically excluded from the access to the Program

• The elderly whose children live outside the municipality of Coimbra, regardless of the income of the children’s household per capita are covered by the Program provided they meet all other membership criteria;
• If there is a refusal of the delivery of the income statements by the children, the elderly is automatically excluded from the access to the program;
• In cases of negligence on the part of the children, a social report will be prepared on the situation and, depending on the evaluation, the elderly person may take advantage of the service, regardless of the children’s income, and if in compliance with all other membership criteria.
