Social Emergency Fund:

The Social Emergency Fund (in Portuguese abbreviated as: FES) is a measure of social support implemented by the City Council of Coimbra in articulation with the Parishes’ Social Commissions (CSF), through a protocol aimed at the protection of individuals and/or households in a serious or emerging social and economic deprivation.

The FES is made available by the City Council of Coimbra, to the 18 non-profit entities which were indicated at the meeting of the CSF, them being responsible for managing and making available the funds for the approved situations.

The FES will support residents living in the parish of social strata in a situation of proven social and economic deprivation that, due to lack of resources, are unable to access basic goods, services and basic essential conditions that assure them the minimum conditions to live with dignity and to promote the improvement of their quality of life, in particular in the following areas: nourishment, health, water, electricity, gas, housing (rents and small arrangements), education and other cases where the minimum conditions of survival of individuals and/or households are in danger.

The beneficiaries are previously identified as part of the Integrated Social Assistance carried out in the Parish, and are subsequently evaluated and diagnosed at a CSF meeting.
