It is up to the Municipal Service of Civil Protection:
– The prevention of the full range of risks:
. Risk assessment and analysis (daily)
. Vulnerabilities and their reduction
. Sensitization, information and training of the population for the prevention and self-protection (programs and activities)
. Reduction of the collective risks as a permanent task.
– The planning of all the actions against risks by the elaboration and permanent update of the Municipal and Special Emergency Plans.
– To ensure liaison and collaboration between municipal services and the central administration, such as civil protection, firefighters and the military.
– To support and coordinate relief operations for the populations affected by catastrophes or public calamities.
– To promote the rehousing and monitoring of populations affected by catastrophic or calamity situations in articulation with the competent services.
– To give permanent support and aid to other entities and services of the City Council of Coimbra when they are involved in the management of other risks.
– To give permanent support and aid:
. To the Municipal Commission of Civil Protection
. To the Municipal Forest Fire Protection Commission
. To the Forest Technical Office
. To other commissions or entities within the scope of Municipal Security
. To the Municipal Operational Center, when constituted.
– To carry out studies and applications within the scope of their duties.
