Acquiring one or more fire extinguishers (probably of 6kg of ABC Powder) is perhaps the first step to take. The next one is to read the operating instructions of the fire extinguisher in a timely manner. In most cases it will be necessary:
|
1º Detach the fire extinguisher 2º Point the nozzle of the fire extinguisher to the bases of the flames; 3º Press the lever; 4º Slowly sweep the whole surface. |
However, do not forget that you must:
1º – Check that the fire does not surround you by the backs;
2º – Slowly approach the center of fire;
3º – In the case of working outdoors, the approach must be done in the wind direction.
Always call the firefighters, even if you can extinguish the fire. Firefighters will check if there is no danger of re-ignition.

If your clothing catches fire, do not run. Cover the face with your hands and roll over yourself or wrap yourself in a towel or carpet. If your hair is hit, put your head under a faucet or a shower. In any situation of accident do not lose the calm, because panicking will only aggravate the situation. |
