Coimbra Games 2019 will start this Saturday. This is an event which was held for the first time in 1989 and during twelve year, has marked the sports calendar of the city, allowing thousands of youngsters to practice their sports activity and to participate in a competition based on social interaction. Coimbra Games, which were reclaimed by the municipal executive board last year, are now counting on its 15th edition, with the aim of providing sport practices to a constantly growing number of children, teenagers and adults, and promoting social interaction among different generations.
This 15th edition addresses to two age groups, from 6 to 12 years old and from 30 and above, in order to promote the social interaction between new generations and those have participated in the previous editions. Coimbra Games 2019 will count with athletics (cross-country race), badminton, basketball, cycling (BTT), futsal and rugby modalities and will be disputed, by modalities and on the specific days in the perished outside the urban centre. The event will end on 22 of June, with the accomplishment of several tournaments of the diverse modalities which will be held simultaneously, bringing together all the participants of this edition in contiguous spaces, which will be announced in due time, in the zone of the Solum.
An event held by CM of Coimbra, which aims to be a factor of integration and inclusion of all citizens in the practice of physical and sports activity, promoting social interaction among all participants and stimulating the identity and sense of belonging by the populations to their parishes.
This edition counts on the support of the Perish Council of the municipality, Badminton Section of the Academic Association of Coimbra (AAC), Regional Rugby Committee, Rugby Section of AAC, Association of Students of the Coimbra Agricultural School, Basketball Association of Coimbra (in conjunction with the city clubs), ADR Loureiro , Cães de Caça BTT Club, Roda Dianteira, Roda Pedaleira, Athletic Association of the District (in conjunction with city clubs).
