Ample park of free access and closed to vehicle’s circulation, still in expansion.
The right margin consists of an area of more than 400 000 m2, basically dedicated to leisure, with a large area of terraces, set on a wooden platform over the river. The green zone adds four kilometers of pedestrian corridors and the same length for cycle paths, between pavilions with temporary exhibitions, of which Pavilhão Centro de Portugal stands out which is Portugal’s Pavillion of Expo 2000, Hannover, designed by Souto Moura and Álvaro Siza Vieira, and consists of the most recent museum space in the city. During the summer of 2006 it was inaugurated the magnificent and innovative pedestrian bridge “Pedro and Ines” that connected the two margins of the river Mondego.
In the left margin, a sandbox was built, which allows, in particular, beach volleyball, a basic level of skatepark and various children’s amusement equipment, a picnic area and 4 pavilions, 3 of which are home to nautical activities clubs canoeing, rowing and sailing), thus guaranteeing many sport and leisure activities particularly at the weekends.
