A pioneer at a national level, the Medieval Fair of Coimbra continues, currently, to be one of the most prestigious in the country and a major cultural event in the city that leads to the reawakening of the upper side of Coimbra, attracting thousands of visitors.
The purpose of this event is to recreate some aspects of the medieval everyday life, allowing the visitor to experience the high merchandise environment by providing contact with the flavors, noises and activities of a distant past, recreated by hundreds of background actors.
The program of the Medieval Fair of Coimbra is marked by the commercialization of products, the varied animation, the placement of figures and paintings of the time extended to the realization of a Medieval Supper and other initiatives, such as the Tournament of Weapons on Horseback which recreate the warlike daily life.
