It is a bet of the municipality of Coimbra that arises from the fact that comic books are cherished by the public of Coimbra. The first edition of the event took place in 2016 with the goal to recognize, honor and encourage the worship and the enthusiasm for the “9th art” and put the name of Coimbra in the national tour of a comic strip.
“Coimbra BD” aims to promote and raise awareness to the residents and visitors of the city to the comic books, and to other activities inherent to this art such as illustration, cinema and video games. The exhibition includes a diverse program, which passes by the sale of books, magazines and other comic books editions, merchandising material, exhibition designs, presentations of works, films, conversation sessions with authors, autograph sessions, drafting tables, board games, and a Cosplay parade. “Coimbra BD” also brings together renowned national and international guests, booksellers and publishers specialized in comic books.
It is, therefore, an eclectic and diversified municipal bet capable of combining events aimed at vast audiences with more specialized ones.
