The Working Group of Candidacy of Coimbra the European Capital of Culture 2027, constituted by nomination of the Coimbra City Council President, Manuel Machado, is composed of characters from our city, in representation of the most varied areas of knowledge, united in the mission of strategically re-thinking culture in Coimbra, and committed towards the same objective, historical and un-delayable, of elevating our city to European Culture Capital in 2027.

This commission, a multi-disciplinary group, is led by the magic of Luís de Matos, an inexorable figure at national and international level, integrating even the doctor and president of PSD Coimbra, Nuno Freitas; the municipal deputy of the CDU and one of the previous directors of the Coimbra Conservatory, Manuel Rocha; the professor of the University of Coimbra (UC), Luís Filipe Menezes; one of the previous regional directors of the Centre Culture and professor of the University of Coimbra, António Pedro Pita; and by one of the previous vice-rectors of the UC and professor Cristina Robalo Cordeiro.
