The town is located on the margins of the Ebro river, in the center of a valley with a great variety of landscapes, from deserts to dense forests, meadows and mountains.
Its geographical situation is exceptional, as it is halfway between Madrid, Barcelona and Bilbao.
Zaragoza hosted Expo 2008 this summer, a World Fair on Water and Sustainable Development and it is a candidate for the European Capital of Culture in 2016.
The city is famous for its folklore, local gastronomy and the famous Basílica del Pilar, the cathedral La Seo and Palácio del Aljafería. The “Fiestas del Pilar” are also a reference in Spanish festivities.
